Seems like time stands still on the islands. But the end of the 2019 is upon us and we are ready to celebrate!
The Sundial Beach Resort (Sanibel’s largest resort) will have a HUGE New Year’s Eve Celebration with games, live entertainment and buffet on the beach and main pool deck from 6:30pm till midnight. Adults are $84.99 each, children 4 – 12 are $32.49, and kids 3 and under are free (assuming they can stay awake that long). The Resort is also offering Cabanas with Reserved Table Seating for up to 10 at $788.49 (including all food, soft drinks, entertainment and games). Traditions on the Beach at the Island Inn (239-472-4559) will be having their New Year’s Gala with dinner and dancing, leading to a balloon drop and champagne toast. Reservations are requested.
The historic Thistle Lodge at the Casa Ybel Resort (239-472-9200) will be having a special menu and live entertainment through midnight. Reservations are recommended by calling or booking though the Open Table app.
George & Wendy’s Seafood Grille (239-472-3800) is having their annual New Year’s Bash with food and drink specials, live entertainment with the Rex Bongo Band (“blues, roots, & swamp country rock”) with a balloon drop and free champagne toast. Dinner reservations are requested.
After the festivities (and recovery for some), there are thrills and chills (quite literally) in store for January 1. The annual Polar Bear Plunge takes place at the crack of noon at Tarpon Beach (off West Gulf Drive) to walk backwards into the frigid (72 degrees at last report from WINK Weather) Gulf waters, followed by a warm group hug, photos, champagne sip, and bragging rights (Let’s face it…you’d rather do this here than in the snowy north.).
